Hyderabad: Man hacked to death in Madhapur; police suspect personal dispute
A 32-year-old man from Warangal district was hacked to death in Hyderabad's Madhapur. Police suspect the murder may be linked to a long-standing personal dispute stemming from a failed relationship, though the motive is yet to be established.
Hyderabad: A 32-year-old hotel worker was allegedly beaten to death outside a hotel in Madhapur after he had been repeatedly harassing a young woman, police said on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Senepalli Bhaskar, a native of Upperpally village in Warangal, was working at Sri Sri Suites Hotel near Dhruva College on Image Garden Road.
According to police, they received a Dial-100 call at around 11.47 pm on July 14 reporting a fight outside the hotel. A police team reached the spot and found Bhaskar seriously injured. He was shifted to Kondapur Area Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead on July 15.
During the preliminary investigation, police found that Bhaskar had allegedly been harassing the daughter of the prime suspect, Raju, for the past few days. Bearing a grudge over the alleged harassment, Raju, along with his brother-in-law Kumaraswamy, travelled from Hanamkonda to Hyderabad and allegedly attacked Bhaskar with sticks before fleeing the spot.
The Madhapur police booked a case and later identified both suspects.
Meanwhile, Bhaskar’s family alleged that the assault was carried out by members of the young woman’s family over a past relationship between the two. They staged a protest at the Madhapur Police Station, demanding action against the accused. Members of the MRPS also joined the protest.
According to the family, Bhaskar and the woman, who belonged to the same village, were in a relationship before her family married her to another man about three years ago. They alleged that tensions over the issue ultimately led to the fatal attack.
Police sources said Raju and Kumaraswamy had surrendered before the police, while the woman was also being questioned as part of the investigation. However, the police were yet to confirm this.
As a precautionary measure, security was intensified in Upperpally village in Warangal district to prevent any untoward incidents.
