Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police arrested Gogula Lakshmi Vijaya Kumar, director of AV Infracon Private Limited and AV Organo Farms Private Limited, for allegedly cheating the public to the tune of Rs 8 crore on the pretext of huge profits. Vijaya Kumar, a resident of Vijayawada, started the companies and lured the people with “buyback and pre-launch schemes” and other investment schemes. “Vijaya Kumar executed the agreement of sale, MoU and sale deeds in favour of the victims to make them believe that their investment is legally valid. He later duped them,” said the police.


Moving car catches fire on PVNR Expressway


A moving car caught fire on the PVNR Expressway on Wednesday afternoon, leading to a traffic slowdown. The car, coming towards the city from Shamshabad, suddenly caught fire near Pillar No. 112 on the expressway. The driver and a passenger, who were in the car, rushed out of the vehicle on noticing the smoke. The vehicle was soon engulfed in flames. On information, a fire tender from the nearby fire station rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The officials suspect the fire broke out due to a short circuit.


Man gets 20-year jail term for sexually assaulting girl

A city court on Wednesday sentenced a man to 20 years in jail for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a girl five years ago. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on him. Vamshi Krishna alias Bablu, in 2020, kidnapped a 17-year-old girl from Dabeerpura and took her to Nalgonda district. He confined her in a house and sexually assaulted her several times before dropping her at home. After reaching home, the girl informed her parents, who approached the police. A case was registered, and Bablu was arrested. After the trial, the court awarded him a 20-year jail term. He was sent to Central Prison Chanchalguda.


SI caught taking bribe 

The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths trapped a Sub-Inspector of police red-handed when he demanded and accepted Rs 10,000 bribe from a person to grant him station bail. M Ramachanderji, posted at the Kalwakurthy police station in Nagarkurnool district, had demanded the bribe from a person ‘to issue him a station bail’. The tainted amount was recovered from the accused officer’s possession. He was produced before the ACB court at Nampally. The case is under investigation.
