Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (east) busted yet another tea adulteration racket and caught one person at Malakpet on Saturday. The police seized property worth Rs. 5.08 lakh and an auto rickshaw from him.
The man Pukhraj Purohit of Goshamahal, was selling adulterated products like Brooke Bond tea powder, Tata Gemini powder, ENO powder and Feviquick to the shop keepers. He procured the items from one Manoj Maheshwari, of New Delhi, who was using counterfeit labels of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and packing the products. He supplied it to Purohit, who in turn went around and sold it to the city traders, said the Task Force officials. Efforts are on to nab Manoj Maheshwari, who is absconding.
