The Hyderabad Kirana Merchants’ Association, along with Telangana Police, H-FAST team and FSSAI, will hold a public awareness meeting on food safety and compliance at Begum Bazar on Monday. Senior police officials and FSSAI representatives will guide traders, aiming to strengthen safe food practices and regulatory awareness in the city’s key commercial hub.
Telangana Food Safety Department conducted FSSAI registration and licensing camps in 14 Hyderabad vegetable markets, receiving 926 applications. Vendors were sensitised on hygiene and safety norms, with a second round of camps scheduled on December 30.
The FSSAI has assured that eggs available in India are safe for human consumption, dismissing recent claims of nitrofuran contamination as misleading. Officials noted that trace residues below regulatory limits pose no health risk and emphasised adherence to food safety regulations.
FSSAI has made it mandatory for all food businesses across India to display their QR code-linked license at visible spots. The move aims to empower consumers and improve food safety surveillance through the Food Safety Connect app.
