Hyderabad: A local court on Friday sentenced a man to three years of rigorous imprisonment for causing the death of a person due to negligence at Maheshwaram in 2014.

The convicted person was M Sathaiah (35), a farmer from Gollur in Maheshwaram of Ranga Reddy district. In April 2014, Sathaiah and his brother Veeraiah had set up an electric fence around their agricultural land to hunt wild boars. However, one Ramesh (23), who went to relieve himself, suffered an electric shock and died after coming in contact with with the fencing. The Maheshwaram police arrested the duo.

Veeraiah died during trial, and Sathaiah was convicted.
