Hyderabad: Man posing as customer steals gold coin from jewellery store

The accused manages to divert the attention of the salespersons on the pretext of checking designs and flicks the coin

Hyderabad: An unidentified man, posing as a customer, allegedly stole a gold coin from Lalitha Jewellers at Punjagutta. The incident, which reportedly occurred last week, came to light only recently.

As per available information, the suspect entered the store posing as a customer during peak business hours.

He managed to divert the attention of the salespersons on the pretext of checking designs and flicked the gold coin. He further replaced it with a silver coin coated with gold colour.

The incident came to light later when the staff examined the surveillance camera footage in the shop.

A case was booked and efforts are on to trace the thief.
