Hyderabad: A 33-year-old man, who was recently released on bail in murder case of his wife, died by suicide three days after his release in Raidurgam.
Raraju, a native of Andhra Pradesh was engaged in the sand and brick business and had been residing with his wife Vijayalakshmi at Gokul Flats in Miyapur. The couple has two sons.
Police said the couple had frequent domestic disputes over various issues including Raraju allegedly developing alcohol addiction. In December last year, during one such altercation, he reportedly assaulted Vijayalakshmi by strangling her and repeatedly punching her. She lost consciousness and was rushed to a private hospital in KPHB, where doctors declared her dead.
Following the incident, Raraju was arrested and remanded in judicial custody at Central Prison in Charlapalli. He was granted bail and released on March 29.
Apparently unable to cope with the emotional distress after the incident, Raraju reportedly called his brother-in-law Srinivas Rao on Thursday evening and asked him to come along with another relative. He also shared his location and photos.
Later, he died by suicide by hanging himself from a neem tree at a crematorium near Nanakramguda Rotary.
On receiving information, the Raidurgam police rushed to the spot and took up investigation.
