Hyderabad: Man set ablaze by woman’s family over inter-caste marriage
In a shocking incident in Farooqnagar, Ranga Reddy, a man was set ablaze by the family of a woman who allegedly eloped and married a man from another caste. Police have registered a case and posted pickets to maintain order.
Hyderabad: Enraged family members of a woman, who had allegedly eloped and married a man belonging to another caste, brutally murdered the elder brother of her husband by setting him ablaze at Farooqnagar mandal in Ranga Reddy district on Saturday.
According to the police, the woman who belongs to a OBC caste and the man, Yerrra Chandrasekhar who belongs to a lower caste stayed in Yerrampally village, Farooqnagar mandal and were acquainted with each other for a long time.
Both of them decided to marry and reportedly eloped a few days ago from the village and were staying in Hyderabad.
The family of the girl was angry over the developments. On Saturday K Venkatesh, the father of the girl along with others caught hold of Yerra Rajasekhar, the elder brother of Chandrasekhar in the village and took him to the outskirts of the village.
All of them then beat Rajasekhar severally with sticks then after tying his hands and legs, they doused him in fuel and set him ablaze leading to his death.
On information, the police reached the spot and shifted the body for postmortem examination to the mortuary. A case is registered.
The incident sent shock waves in the Farooqnagar mandal. To prevent any further trouble the police have posted pickets in the localities.
