Hyderabad: A supporter of Hyderabad Mayor Vijayalaxmi R Gadwal, who put up illegal banners in Jubilee Hills congratulating her on becoming the Mayor, was levied a penalty of Rs.1 lakh by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s EVDM wing. Varying sums were imposed as fine on a few other supporters as well for putting up similar banners and hoardings in different parts of the city.
The supporter, Atish Agarwal, and other supporters of the Mayor had allegedly put up banners and hoardings along a few stretches in Banjara Hills, including on Road No. 10 and 12 and in Jubilee Hills as well. With some citizens coming forward and pointing out on social media that these were illegal, the EVDM is clearing the banners, besides levying penalties.
The illegal hoarding was installed 15 feet above the ground at Jubilee Hills, the EVDM notice said.
Meanwhile, in what was her first official function, Mayor Vijayalaxmi received Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu at the Begumpet Airport, along with MP K Keshav Rao and Home Minister Mahmood Ali.
