Hyderabad: Students of the Government Primary School, Bazaar-e-Ghansi, at Moosa Bowli face the risk of electrocution, reportedly due to the installation of an electrical transformer in front of the school gate.

According to Arshiya Sultana, the principal of the school, a cloth store owner had undertaken renovation of the building in front of the school and erected a pillar to install an electrical transformer atop it. “A few hundred children study in the school, and erecting an electrical transformer in front of the school gate poses a risk of electrocution to students,” the school principal told Telangana Today.

The management of the school and the education department officials concerned had spoken to the GHMC and the Charminar police. “The police visited the spot after we complained to them on Tuesday. So far, no action has been initiated by the authorities. The lives of the children are being put at risk by this negligent act,” said the school principal.

The GHMC should take action and conduct an immediate inspection along with officials from the power and education departments. “Who will be held responsible if any student suffers electrocution due to it?” asked Mohd Shafiuddin, a parent.
