Hyderabad: Nampally Railway Station modernisation picks pace, reaches 20 per cent completion
Modernisation of Hyderabad Deccan (Nampally) Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme has reached nearly 20 per cent completion. Work on parking facilities, substations, residential quarters, air concourse foundations and a metro-connected skywalk is progressing.

Hyderabad: The modernisation of Hyderabad Deccan (Nampally) Railway Station, being undertaken under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, is going on at a brisk pace, with work on various facets of the station picking up pace.
According to Railway officials, the works are progressing as per the planned schedule and have reached nearly 20 per cent completion.
The project, being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 327.27 crore, aims to transform the busy station into a world-class facility equipped to meet future passenger requirements. Nampally station handles an average of 50 trains and around 25,000 passengers every day. The redevelopment is targeted for completion by December 2027.
The B1 and B2 basement parking facilities on the northern side, the AC Coach Maintenance Office building and demolition of old quarters have been completed.
On the southern side, work on the basement parking foundation, 11 kV and 33 kV substations, and Type-2 residential quarters is progressing rapidly.
Of the 54 foundations planned for the air concourse, 14 have been completed. Construction of pillars for the metro-connected skywalk is also underway, while the removal of the old building on the eastern side is in progress.
Modernisation of Nampally Railway Station:
Major facilities proposed:
- A new G2 main station building on the eastern side and modernisation of the western-side entrance
- A massive 72 × 90-metre air concourse spanning the tracks and platforms
- A 9-metre-wide skywalk/FOB with travellators providing direct connectivity to Nampally Metro Station
- Underground basement parking for 145 cars, including EV charging facilities
- 875 kWp solar panels and green-building certification
