Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) is amongst the 75 prestigious centres chosen from across the country to host the National Science Week Festival between February 22 and 28.
Being organised as part of the 75th year of Independence – ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, it is being led by the Ministry of Culture and the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor, Government of India.
Eight major S&T organisations including DST, DBT, CSIR, MoES, ISRO, DAE, ICMR, DRDO have joined hands for the festival which culminates on the National Science Day, February 28, the day when Sir CV Raman discovered the Raman Effect in 1928.
As part of the festival, the ICMR-NIN and will have displays, posters and live demonstrations for the benefit of students and common public by reputed science institutes. In addition, a book fair will showcase titles related to science, innovations, biographies of scientists and India’s freedom struggle.
“Indian science and technology had a splendid impact on the development and progress of the country after Independence and in making us a global economy. The younger generation should know this and the route map for the coming 25 years when India completes 100 years of independence,” said Dr Hemalatha R, Director, ICMR-NIN and Chairperson of the festival.
Organizing Secretary and NIN scientist, Dr G Bhanuprakash Reddy said the event will welcome students from rural and urban areas to witness and understand science and technology accomplishments of the country.
