The protesters, who had food outside the mess, lamented that the facility turned into a pile of garbage, making it impossible to dine in there.
According to students, sanitation workers were not working because of their unpaid salaries, leading to sanitation issues in the hostel and mess facility.
“We have been facing the sanitation issue in both the mess and washrooms for the last 15 days. The sanitation workers are not being paid and have stopped working, causing a lot of inconvenience to around 400 students residing in the hostel,” said Rakesh, a BCom final-year student.
