Hyderabad: The North Zone Police solved multiple robbery, snatching and theft cases reported over the past fortnight, arresting several offenders within hours of the crimes.
Under Monda Market police station limits, two delivery workers were caught within 12 hours of snatching a mobile phone. The Begumpet Police nabbed two labourers who snatched a woman’s gold mangalsutra near ICICI Bank, recovering the ornament.
On the other hand, the Mahankali Police arrested two habitual offenders who robbed an auto driver and recovered the vehicle, 10 mobile phones and cash. Meanwhile, the Bowenpally Police cracked a major house burglary case, arresting a couple involved in over 20 property offences.
In other cases, a juvenile drug addict was booked for handbag theft, and one Masood Khan (49) was arrested for impersonating a police officer and extorting motorists. Two more suspects were caught for mobile snatching at Pan Bazaar.
North Zone DCP S Rashmi Perumal urged citizens to stay alert, secure their homes, and report suspicious activity via Dial 100.
Hashish oil worth Rs 30 lakh seized, two arrested in Khammam
Khammam: Raghunadhapalem police in the district seized hashish oil worth Rs 30 lakh and arrested two persons on Saturday.
Raghunadhapalem Inspector of Police Usman Sharif said during vehicle inspections, police found a vehicle moving suspiciously and when inspected they found hashish oil in the vehicle.
The accused, Kotha Ramu of YSR Colony in Khammam and Sarath Janaki Ramaiah of Thorredu in Rajamahendravaram district of Andhra Pradesh, were arrested.
The vehicle was seized and the arrested persons were sent to judicial remand, the CI said. Sub-Inspector of Police Gajjela Naresh and staff were present.
Five-member women’s gang attempts burglary in Rajendranagar
Hyderabad: A five-member women’s gang allegedly attempted to burgle a house in Rajendranagar on the city suburb on Friday.
As per available information, after failing to find any valuables, the suspects reportedly targeted another home in the area.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify and trace the culprits.
Nine transgender persons arrested for flesh trade
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) conducted a series of night raids during a week-long special drive, leading to the arrest of nine transgender persons and the rescue of three victims from flesh trade.
Meanwhile, the Cyberabad She Teams carried out 142 decoy operations, arresting 76 individuals red-handed for indecent acts in public places.
Petty cases were booked in 51 incidents. The teams also received 17 complaints from women victims through various channels.
In addition, 29 families involved in domestic disputes were reconciled through counselling at Family Counselling Centres.
Woman run over by RTC bus in Kothagudem
Kothagudem: A married woman was mowed down by a TGSRTC bus at post office centre in the district headquarters on Saturday.
According to the police, a couple M Srinivas and his wife Pothu Lakshmi (30) of Medara Basthi were going towards Vidyanagar on a motorbike during late evening hours. When the RTC bus driver was overtaking the bike from the right side, the bike’s handlebar touched the bus causing the bike rider to lose balance.
As a result the woman fell down from the bike and came under the rear tyre of the bus leading to her instant death while her husband suffered minor injuries. The one-town police registered a case in connection with the incident.
Two girls flee Balika Sadanam in Manugur, traced at Bhadrachalam
Kothagudem: An incident of two minor girls reportedly running away from Balika Sadanam at Shivalingapuram in Manugur and ICDS officials finding them at Bhadrachalam in the district came to light on Saturday.
According to district Child Welfare Committee officials, the girls were admitted to the Sadanam in child marriage case a week ago. They jumped over the Sadanam wall and fled on Friday. On learning about this, the Sadanam and ICDS officials launched a search to find them, besides lodging a complaint with the police.
The girls were said to be found at Bhadrachalam and the ICDS officials handed them over to CWC officials on Saturday evening.
