Hyderabad: Raising serious concerns over private affiliated engineering colleges collecting excess fee from students, NSUI student activists demanded that JNTU-Hyderabad intervene and initiate necessary action against the erring institutions.

In a representation to JNTU-Hyderabad Registrar Prof K Venkateswara Rao here on Monday, NSUI state leader Devarala Rakesh said several engineering colleges were collecting fees far beyond the officially prescribed structure under various pretexts.

“We demand strict action against such institutions and request JNTU-Hyderabad to establish a separate grievance cell to address fee-related complaints from students,” he said.

The students’ organisation emphasised that the extra charges were often labelled as ‘optional’ or ‘miscellaneous’ but were being forcibly collected, which puts unnecessary financial pressure on students.
