Hyderabad: Opal Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand crowned Miss World 2025

Miss Ethiopia and Miss Poland were declared as Miss World runner-up 1 and Miss World runner-up 2 respectively.

Hyderabad: Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri was crowned 72nd Miss World at the grand finale held here on Saturday. Chuangsri received her crown from last year’s winner Krystyna Pyszková

Miss Ethiopia and Miss Poland were declared as Miss World runner-up 1 and Miss World runner-up 2 respectively.  Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Miss World Chairperson Julia Morley and reigning Miss World Krystyna Pyszkova presented the crown to Miss Thailand Opal Suchata.

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, Julia Morley CBE, Chairwoman of Miss World, Businesswoman Sudha Reddy, Tollywood actor Rana Daggubati, Telangana Tourism Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, former actress Namrata Shirodkar, actress and former Miss World Manushi Chillar, activist Dona Walsh and others were part of the jury.

The winner, Opal is a student of international relations. She has an interest in Psychology and Anthropology and she would one day like to be an ambassador.

She has volunteered for organisations working in the field of breast cancer. Opal has a special talent for playing the Ukelele backwards and has sixteen cats and five dogs as pets, according to the Miss World website.

The 72nd Miss World competitions began on May 10 and concluded on May 31. According to the organisers, after a month of purpose-driven activities, cultural immersion, and inspiring challenges across Telangana, 108 contestants from around the world vied for the Miss World crown in a spectacular celebration of beauty, purpose, and unity.

The beauty pageant was hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar. India hosted the beauty competition last year as well.

India’s Miss World contestant Nandini Gupta was eliminated before she could reach top 8. So far, six Indian women have won the title, including Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and Manushi Chillar (2017).
