Hyderabad: Over 3,000 join ‘Walk A Wave 2.0’ to promote autism awareness and inclusion

The walkathon featured a range of inclusive activities such as an energetic dance HIIT session led by Vijaya Tupurani, engaging storytelling by Sudha Ramani, and an entertaining puppet show by Rohini Jayanthi. Families were welcomed by a lively carnival atmosphere, complete with games and creative stalls that fostered joy, connection, and community celebration.

Hyderabad: To spread awareness on autism, over 3,000 health enthusiasts and autism care specialists participated in ‘Walk A Wave 2.0’ , a 2K walkathon at Gachibowli stadium on Sunday. The walk was also aimed at creating a shared space where neurodiverse and neurotypical participants walked, danced, and celebrated together with one purpose, a press release said.

The walkathon had inclusive activities including a high energy dance HIIT session led by Vijaya Tupurani, storytelling by Sudha Ramani, and a puppet show by Rohini Jayanthi. A vibrant carnival, games, and creative stalls welcomed families and created an atmosphere of celebration and connection.

“Today was about going a step beyond awareness, toward acceptance. We walked together, not for someone else, but with one another,” said Anupama Dalmia, national president of WICCI Holistic Child Development Council, said.

Swetha Reddy, Autism Cause Ambassador, and Rashmi Srivastava, Council Lead at WICCI, actress Payal Radhakrishna, Dr Manjula Anagani and others were present.
