Hyderabad: Pan shop owner arrested for selling ganja packets, 500 grams seized

A pan shop owner was arrested by Hyderabad's Prohibition and Excise Department after officials seized 500 grams of ganja packed in sachets during a raid. The accused allegedly sold the contraband for profit and has been booked under the NDPS Act.

Hyderabad: A pan shop owner was arrested for allegedly selling ganja packets from his shop in Hyderabad on Wednesday by officials of the Prohibition and Excise Department. A total of 500 grams of the contraband was seized from him.

Acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a raid on Sohail Pan Shop at Chanda Nayak Nagar on the Madhapur Road. During the search, the sleuths recovered 500 grams of ganja packed in small sachets, allegedly intended for retail sale.

According to Inspector Nagaraju, the shop owner allegedly procured ganja in bulk or purchased 10-gram packets for around Rs 300 each and resold them for Rs 500, making illegal profits through the sale of narcotic substances.

The suspect, Malik Aslam alias Tom Boli, was arrested during the operation. The seized ganja and the accused were handed over to the Madhapur Excise Station for further investigation and legal action under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
