Hyderabad: Police bust adulterated ghee racket, arrest 68-year-old
Secunderabad police arrested a 68-year-old man for manufacturing and selling adulterated cow ghee. The suspect mixed plant-based oils with food coloring, packaged 200 kg as cow ghee, and sold it in local markets. Authorities seized the ghee and related equipment.
Hyderabad: The Task Force (North) team, along with the Monda Market Police, busted an adulterated ghee racket at Second Bazar in Secunderabad and arrested a man for manufacturing and selling spurious cow ghee.
The suspect, identified as Annamali Sainathan (68), a former tiffin centre operator, was caught with about 200 kg of adulterated ghee.
According to police officials, Sainathan allegedly prepared fake ghee at his residence by mixing plant-based oils such as coconut oil, palm oil, Dalda and food colouring, packaging it in one-litre poly packs and selling it in local markets and pooja stores as cow ghee at Rs 600 per kg.
Police seized the adulterated ghee, a weighing machine, a packing machine, packing covers and a mobile phone, altogether worth Rs 1.5 lakh.
Officials said the suspect resorted to the illegal activity after shutting his business and facing financial distress.
