Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police on Friday said former Minister and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao was examined by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) strictly as part of the ongoing probe into alleged illegal phone surveillance registered at Punjagutta police station in 2024.
Relevant facts were elicited and are being analysed along with evidence already collected, the police said, adding that the BRS leader was instructed not to contact or influence any witnesses and that he could be summoned again if required.
Clarifying the police stand, City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said the examination was solely related to allegations of large-scale unauthorised phone interception and that the investigation was being conducted ‘fairly, professionally and strictly in accordance with law’.
