Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police conducted a cordon and search operation at Sardar Patel Nagar and surrounding areas and detained suspects and rowdy sheeters on Friday.
Nearly 200 police personnel from the rank of the DCP to Home Guards, including women under the supervision of Malkajgiri DCP Rakshitha K Murthy searched around 500 houses. Thirty two-wheelers, two cars and two auto-rickshaws without valid documents were seized for verification. The police also detained 17 suspects and three rowdy sheeters. One person running an illegal gutkha manufacturing unit was held and gutkha sachets worth Rs 20,000 were seized.
The DCP who interacted with the residents enquired about their needs and alerted them in view of the heavy rains and warned against movement of suspicious persons in the areas.
