Hyderabad police form special teams in advocate Khaja Moizuddin murder case

Hyderabad police formed multiple special teams to investigate the killing of advocate Khaja Moizuddin, who was allegedly run over by a speeding car in Nampally. Investigators are analysing CCTV footage, vehicle ownership records and mobile phone data to identify the suspects.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police have formed several special teams to identify the suspects in the gruesome killing of advocate Khaja Moizuddin, who was mowed down to death by a speeding car near his residence at Nampally on Saturday morning.

The police have formed several teams to identify and nab the suspects in the case. The police had identified the Scorpio car involved in the incident and traced out the man whose name was on the vehicle registration. To the dismay of the investigators, the man told the police that he had sold the vehicle to some other person around six months ago, and they might not have gotten the vehicle registered in their name.

The police suspect that the suspects had conducted a recce for a few days before finally attacking the advocate near his house. The killers were aware that the advocate regularly went out to Public Garden for a morning walk.

An official who is supervising the investigation said that the killers were waiting for the advocate to come out of the house as was evident from the footage of the surveillance cameras. The vehicle was parked a distance away from the house for some time and at least two people were in the car at the time of the incident. The police suspect a few more persons had kept a watch near the house of the advocate and left the place after the car had mowed down the advocate. The police are also probing the angle of an insider who might have tipped off about the plan of the advocate to visit his father-in-law, who was hospitalised.

As part of the investigation, the police had also questioned a few local rowdy sheeters to find out if any known criminal or shady character was seen in and around the house of advocate Khaja Moizuddin, in the last few days.

The police are analysing the call details record of the Khaja Moizuddin phone numbers, and the local active mobile phones in the vicinity of the advocate’s house around the time of the incident.

All India Bar Association reacts

The All India Bar Association (AIBA) condemned the alleged murder of senior advocate Khaja Moizuddin in Nampally on Saturday.

In a press release, the AIBA stated, “Such an incident, if indicative of a deliberate act, is a matter of grave concern and demands the strictest legal scrutiny.”

Dr. Aggarwala, President of Supreme Court Bar Association and Vice- Chairman of Bar Council of India, urged the Director General of Police to order a prompt, impartial, and time-bound investigation and to take stringent action against all those found responsible. The legal fraternity cannot remain silent when an advocate’s life is lost under such circumstances, he emphasised.
