Hyderabad: In a significant step to curb food adulteration and ensure public health safety, the Hyderabad Police has launched a specialised enforcement unit named Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST).
The unit was set up in coordination with food safety officials and formally inaugurated on Thursday, marking the beginning of an intelligence-based crackdown on unsafe food practices across the city.
Comprising 28 personnel, including inspectors, sub-inspectors and support staff, officials said H-FAST will focus on surveillance, raids, detection and prosecution of food adulteration cases.
The team will work closely with Food Safety Officers to carry out coordinated inspections and enforcement drives.
Officials said a dedicated toll-free helpline 8712661212 has been introduced for citizens to report cases of food adulteration.
Complaints can also be lodged through the unit’s social media platforms for faster response. Citizens have been urged to stay alert and report any suspicious food-related activities.
