Hyderabad: In an innovative step to promote responsible driving, City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, on Monday launched the #SafeRideChallenge, a social media campaign encouraging citizens to make road safety a viral movement.
The initiative calls on motorists to record a short video or take a photo before starting their ride showing themselves wearing helmets or fastening seat belts and then tag three friends or family members to do the same. The campaign aims to create a chain of positive influence, particularly among youth and regular commuters.
“Safety never goes out of style. Every ride begins with a choice to protect yourself and those you love,” said Sajjanar, urging people to participate enthusiastically. “Together, we can make safety the coolest trend of 2025,” he added.
The #SafeRideChallenge emphasizes three simple yet vital actions before every journey — fastening seat belts, wearing helmets, and inspiring others to follow suit. By leveraging social media engagement, the Hyderabad Police hope to instill a strong culture of accountability and self-awareness among road users.
Over the past year, the Hyderabad Police have adopted several digital and creative outreach programs to promote civic responsibility. With this campaign, they aim to merge technology, community participation and safety.
