Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police on Friday launched special ‘She Netra Teams’ to detect and curb the use of hidden cameras in public and private spaces across the city.
A total of seven dedicated teams, one for each zone under the city commissionerate, have been deployed to conduct inspections at locations such as hotels, shopping malls, hostels, educational institutions and commercial complexes.
City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said these teams have been equipped with advanced camera detection devices and trained in standard operating procedures to carry out effective checks. The move aims to tackle incidents where hidden cameras are secretly installed in places like trial rooms, hospitals, hotels and hostels, violating women’s dignity and privacy.
Sajjanar warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in indecent acts, and surprise inspections would be intensified across the city. Managements of establishments will have to bear full responsibility for ensuring that no hidden cameras are installed in private areas on their premises. Any violation, whether deliberate or due to negligence, will lead to stringent criminal cases, and authorities may even blacklist institutions and responsible staff if required.
To strengthen accountability, businesses have been directed to appoint a Customer Safety In-Charge, who will act as a nodal point for coordination with She Teams.
Citizens can report any suspicious objects or devices by dialling 100 or 112, or by contacting the She Teams helpline at 9490616555.
