Hyderabad: Taking into account problems faced by women from the old city in improving their relationship with She Teams, a new initiative called ‘Saat Saat Ab Aur Bhi Pass’ was launched by the Hyderabad City Police on Saturday.
As part of the initiative, She Teams officials and staff will be present at the Women Police Station (South) in the old city.
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, launching the programme, said a separate facility for She Teams was created at the police barracks and women police station in the South Zone.
“Women have been facing certain problems in getting in touch with the She Teams. That is why we started the programme here. She Team officials and staff will be present here for three hours every Wednesday as part of the programme. They will interact with women and resolve their issues,” Anjani Kumar said, adding that Telangana was the safest State for women in the country, according to NCRB records.
So far, 8,000 victims had approached the She Teams since its inception and 687 FIR were issued, while 723 petty cases were booked. A total of 942 persons were caught red-handed for harassing women.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes and She Teams) Shikha Goel said the trust of the citizens was itself a motivation for the She Teams and for the Bharosa Centre to work harder.
