Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police will augment its drone fleet and deploy the gadgets for regular policing in the city.
Speaking at the annual round-up meet, held on Saturday, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, VC Sajjanar, said that more drones will be added to the drone unit of the Hyderabad IT wing and used in surveillance in the field. “We will more actively do drone policing at the field level. It will help in tackling crimes in the city,” said Hyderabad CP VC Sajjanar.
The police will also be adopting technology to control crime. “We will be using more body-worn cameras, undertake CCTV integration and take up digital management of cases,” said the official.
He said that in the next year, the police will experiment with artificial intelligence policing for crime prediction, hotspot mapping, facial recognition and data-led deployment to move from reactive to anticipatory policing
Sajjanar said that the police are strengthening police preparedness for floods, fires, public health emergencies and major events through mock drills, inter-agency coordination and rapid response units.
On the traffic front, the police plan to have smart traffic systems, AI-enabled signal management, enforcement through e-challans, and integration with urban planning to address congestion and road safety.
