Hyderabad: Prof Appa Rao to demit office as UoH V-C

Prof. Podile had requested the Ministry of Education (MoE) in March 2021 to relieve him from the position

Hyderabad: Prof Appa Rao Podile will demit the office of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) Vice-Chancellor on June 7. He will hand over charge to Prof Arun Agarwal, Pro Vice-Chancellor 1, and senior-most professor in the university, the UoH said in a press release on Friday.

Prof. Podile had requested the Ministry of Education (MoE) in March 2021 to relieve him from the position. The approval from the President of India based on the request made by Prof Podile was received recently.


He was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of UoH on September 21, 2015 for a period of five years and granted one year’s extension in September 2020. Prof Podile is a senior professor in the Department of Plant Sciences in the School of Life Sciences at UoH, the press release added.
