Hyderabad Public School student selected for UC Santa Cruz Science Internship Program 2026
Hyderabad Public School Begumpet student Amolika Kaushal has been selected for the Science Internship Program 2026 at UC Santa Cruz with a 100% scholarship. She participated in advanced biology research on nutrition, clean water and gut health under university researchers.
Hyderabad: Amolika Kaushal, a 12th-grade student at the Hyderabad Public School Begumpet, has been selected for the highly competitive Science Internship Program (SIP) 2026 at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), one of the leading research programmes for aspiring high school students.
Amolika was awarded a 100% scholarship to participate in advanced biology research examining the relationship between nutrition, access to clean water, and gut health. This research contributes to analyses associated with the World Health Organization’s WASH benefits trials examining the impact of water, sanitation, hygiene, and nutrition interventions on child health outcomes.
Working alongside high school students from countries such as Taiwan, Brazil, and the USA, and under the guidance of university researchers, she gained hands-on laboratory experience, analysed biological data, and contributed to research investigating health outcomes in children.
Amolika hopes to pursue a career in biology, animal sciences, or public health, contributing to research that creates meaningful societal impact. For the past two years, as a Lodha Genius Scholar, a fully funded after-school programme at Ashoka University, she has actively participated in multiple research and academic enrichment programmes.
