Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police conducted a special drive against food adulteration racketeers and booked 46 cases on Wednesday. A total of 52 people were arrested in the cases.

According to Rachakonda Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu, special teams comprising the Special Operations Team, local police, and Armed Reserve conducted simultaneous raids on premises where adulterated food items were processed.

“During the raids, several violations were noticed in addition to unhygienic preparation of food products. The violations included no FSSAI licence, sale without trade licence, without manufacturing or expiry dates, and use of banned synthetic food colours,” said G Sudheer Babu.

The police found that many of the manufacturers were affixing counterfeit labels of reputed brands on the product packages and selling them in the market.

The police seized 575 litres of adulterated ghee, 7,000 litres of ginger garlic paste, 35 kilograms of adulterated paneer, and immunity-boosting tablets and powder worth Rs 10 lakh.

The police also seized some quantities of dhaniya powder, milk, turmeric powder, bakery items, biscuits, sweets, and ice creams.
