Hyderabad: The developmental works at the Jahangir Peer Dargah located at Kothur Mandal, Rangareddy district, 45 kilometres away from the city, are to commence soon with the master plan for the project ready. The State government is taking up the works at a cost of Rs 50 crore.
Recently, Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali had visited the shrine and inspected the premises along with the other officials of the TS Wakf Board and Minority Welfare Department.
An expert committee was formed by the State government to plan the developmental works of the historic shrine on nearly 50 acres of land after acquiring it. “There are few hurdles in acquiring the land for taking up the developmental works. Soon the litigations will be cleared and the works will begin,” said TS Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem.
One of the prestigious projects to be undertaken by the State government, the Department of Minorities Affairs is keen to take up the renovation. A blueprint of the plan was prepared and finalised recently.
Plans are to have a spacious Niyaz Khana, Samah Khana, shops, recreational facilities, park, cottages, parking, internal roads etc.
“The Dargah will be the center and our plans are to allow the people to have a glimpse of the shrine from half a kilometre distance. Soon, we will again be visiting the place to conduct a detailed survey and see how the works are expedited,” said Mohammed Saleem.
According to historians, there are two shrines of Hazarat Jahangir Peeran and Hazarat Burhanuddin in Inmulnarva village of Kothur Mandal in Rangareddy district is famous and has earned a unique place in the hearts of all sections of the people.
Both the saints had come to this place all the way from Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, to preach Islam and spread the message of love during their lifetime and breathed their last here. Their graves exist here even today.
