Hyderabad: Several roads and stretches in Hyderabad have become a nightmare for commuters and residents.

The deteriorating condition of roads and the spate of complaints by people about their state appear to have no impact on municipal authorities, as conditions continue to remain the same.

The roads, especially internal stretches that were battered during last year’s monsoon, are yet to be repaired properly.

Large sections of internal roads, which connect colonies to main thoroughfares, are littered with potholes, overflowing drains and water-logging points, endangering daily commuters, especially motorists.

Ironically, barring the roads that are frequently used by VIPs and VVIPs, most of the roads are crying for attention.

In many areas such as Bandlaguda, Shaheen Nagar and Errakunta in the Old City, Bagh Amberpet, Nagole, Anand Nagar, Miyapur, Bholakpur and Musheerabad, the roads have become almost impassable.

“The roads are in a very bad shape. There are several potholes and gravel. Often, motorists skid and fall. We have lodged complaints with authorities on multiple occasions, but no action has been taken so far,” complains Sushanth, a resident of Miyapur.

“The current state of the roads not only disrupts daily life, but also poses serious safety risks to commuters. Civic authorities are not responding to grievances promptly. Our colony roads, leading up to the main road, are totally damaged for the past one year. However, authorities have not addressed this issue permanently,” says R Natarajan, a resident of Netaji Nagar cross roads, Kapra.

In Musheerabad, Chilkalguda, Bholakpur and Kavadiguda, the main roads are full of large craters, posing significant challenges to commuters.

Residents are forced to navigate through these large potholes and trenches filled with water.

Two-wheeler riders are particularly vulnerable, with many incidents of skidding and falls being reported.
