Hyderabad: Rs. 3.71 crore worth gold seized
Acting on information, the sleuths stopped a car that was on its way to the city from Coimbatore. On checking, it was found they were carrying foreign origin smuggled gold by concealing it in a specially made cavity below the handbrake in the car.

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Hyderabad zone, caught three people who were transporting gold, which was allegedly smuggled into the country. A total quantity of 4.778 kilograms of gold valued at Rs. 3.71 crore was seized.
Acting on information, the sleuths stopped a car that was on its way to the city from Coimbatore. On checking, it was found they were carrying foreign origin smuggled gold by concealing it in a specially made cavity below the handbrake in the car. When the secret cavity was opened by pulling a latch beneath steering wheel four packets wrapped in brown tape/paper containing total 18 in number of 24Kt gold bars/cut pieces of 99.9 per cent purity, were recovered.
The gold along with the vehicle were seized and the three persons were arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962 and remanded to Judicial Custody. Further investigation is in progress.
