Hyderabad: To ensure strict and effective implementation of the lockdown, Cyberabad Police Commissioner, VC Sajjanar instructed the police to be on the field round-the-clock while taking all needed precautions.
On the first day of the lockdown imposed by State government to contain the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, Sajjanar on Wednesday made surprise visits at Hitec City, JNTU, Kukatpally Y Junction, Jeedimetla and Balanagar X Roads to supervise the arrangements.
The Commissioner urged the people to observe discipline and stay home during the 10 day lockdown. “The Covid second wave lockdown is for our safety. I request the people to co-operate the same way they had done during the lockdown last year,” he said.
In Cyberabad police limits, more than 100 checkposts were being jointly operated by the law and order police and Traffic police and monitored by the senior police officials.
Any violations of the lockdown restrictions would result in prosecution under Sections 51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Section 188 of IPC. A fine of Rs.1,000 would be imposed for not wearing face masks, he said and instructed everyone to follow safety measures such as social distance and use of sanitisers.
Sajjanar during the inspections was accompanied by DCP Traffic, SM Vijay Kumar, DCP Balanagar, PV Padmaja, DCP Madhapur, Venkateshwarlu, SOT DCP, G. Sundeep, CAR ADCP, Manikraj, Kukatpally ACP, Surender Rao, Madhapur ACP, Raghunandan Rao, inspectors and other police personnels.
