Hyderabad: The Saroornagar police have come forward to provide shelter for the homeless on the streets during the pandemic.
As per instructions from Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat, Saroornagar inspector Sitaram along with a team, with the support of the District Welfare officer and District Legal Service Authority, conducted a special drive and identified 12 homeless persons.
“All these are elders or those with mental illness. They do not have families or social support and have been starving without food for many days,” officials said, adding that they were accommodated at the Home for Aged and Disable at Bansilalpet with the help of District Welfare Officials.
The Commissioner appreciated the Saroornagar police for their efforts.
