Hyderabad: The 17,000-strong Hyderabad City Police will be on the ground to ensure safety and security of citizens in connection with the Sri Rama Navami festival and the processions to be taken out on Sunday across the city. The security measures include drone patrolling and senior cops moving around on motorbikes.
The festival is one of the most significant Hindu festivals as it marks the birth anniversary of Lord Rama. A massive procession will be taken out on the occasion by the Sri Rama Navami committee from the Seetharambagh temple in Mangalhat to the Hanuman Vyayamshala, covering a distance of around 6.5 kilometres. The procession will commence around 11 am and culminate at around 10 pm.
Around 1 lakh people are estimated to participate in the procession that passes through Dhoolpet, Mangalhat, Jumerat Bazaar, Begum Bazaar, Siddiamber Bazaar and Koti before culminating at Hanuman Vyayamshala with a meeting.
City Police Commissioner CV Anand held a meeting with police officials and issued instructions to ensure peaceful and hindrance free passage for the procession.
Police personnel drawn from various units would be part of the security deployment, he said, adding that drone patrolling would be done while police pickets would be deployed along with the procession routes. Area domination exercises were already done, he said.
Police personnel from the Rapid Action Force, Telangana State Special Police, City Armed Reserve, Quick Response Team, City Rapid Action Force and Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force will form part of the bandobast.
Senior police officials will be moving on motorcycles to supervise the security arrangement. “The entire procession and speeches of the chief guests will be videographed,” Anand said.
Similar arrangements are being made by the Cyberabad and Rachakonda police in their respective jurisdictions.
