Hyderabad SHE Teams apprehend 1,530 persons during Ganesh festival celebrations

Hyderabad SHE Teams apprehended 1,530 persons for allegedly indulging in eve-teasing and other objectionable activities during Ganesh festival celebrations from September 14 to 23. The teams were deployed at crowded locations, mandaps and immersion routes, especially Khairatabad and Balapur.

Hyderabad: The SHE Teams of Hyderabad police apprehended 1,530 persons for allegedly indulging in eve-teasing and other objectionable activities during the pre-immersion Ganesh festival celebrations from September 14 to 23.

The SHE Teams were deployed at major Ganesh mandaps, crowded places and immersion routes, with special focus on the Khairatabad and Balapur Ganesh celebrations.

The police said the deployment was aimed at ensuring the safety and security of women and girls and preventing incidents of harassment during the festival period.

Of the 1,530 persons apprehended by the teams, 724 were counselled, warned and let off after due verification, while 48 persons were convicted.
