Hyderabad: The Hyderabad She Teams intensified their efforts to ensure women’s safety across the city, registering multiple cases and securing convictions in December, officials said on Monday.
In December, the She Teams received a total of 98 complaints through WhatsApp, direct petitions and other social media platforms, out of which 29 petitions were referred to police stations, leading to the registration of 14 FIRs, while 15 cases are under further legal process.
Through field surveillance, decoy operations and technical monitoring, SHE Teams caught 13 offenders red-handed, including 11 adults and two juveniles. Another seven offenders were warned and counselled in the presence of their family members. As many as nine petty cases were booked for serious misconduct.
Officials said legal action during the month resulted in multiple convictions, including jail terms ranging from two to seven days with fines, and three cases ending in fine-only penalties.
Apart from enforcement, She Teams focused on prevention and awareness, conducting 188 awareness programmes, 1,045 observation drives in sensitive areas, and 234 AV vehicle campaigns across the city.
Police advised women to remain cautious online, avoid oversharing personal information, use strong passwords and report harassment without delay.
Victims and citizens can seek assistance by dialling 100 or contacting the She Teams WhatsApp helpline at 9490616555.
