Hyderabad: Devotees in large numbers turned up for the Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations organised on a grand scale by the Hare Krishna Movement (HKM), Hyderabad, at Hare Krishna Golden Temple, Banjara Hills on Monday.
As part of the festivities, devotees had an opportunity to witness two different forms of Lord Krishna including Sri Radha Govinda and Sri Laddu Gopal. The devotees also got an opportunity to perform Unjala/Jhulan Seva to Makhan Krishna.
The Janmashtami celebrations began with ‘Shodashopachara Seva’ at 4.30 am on Monday followed by Shringara Arati and darshan. In the evening, a ‘Vishesha Sandhya Maha Abhishekam’ was organised amid Vedic chanting and Harinam sankirtan by devotees.
The highlight of the Abhishekam was a ceremonial bath for Lord Krishna with the holy waters collected by devotees from the seven holy rivers of India and concluded with an inspirational talk by Satya Guara Chandra Dasa, president of HKM, Hyderabad.
The Maha Abhishekam of Sri Radha Govinda continued amid bhajans and kirtans till midnight when a grand Maha Mangala Arati, signifying the appearance of Lord Krishna, was organised.
On Tuesday, Sri Nandotsavam and Unjala/Jhulan Seva to Sri Krishna will be performed and in the evening. Vyasa Puja celebrations on the divine appearance of the Founder-Acharya of (ISKCON), Srila Prabhupada will be held, a press release added.
