Hyderabad: Sri Gaura Purnima festival that marks the transcendental appearance of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was celebrated on a grand scale at Hare Krishna Golden Temple on Friday.
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the devotee incarnation of Lord Krishna was born in 1486 AD, i.e., 536 years ago at Navadweep, Mayapur in West Bengal, on the auspicious day of Phalguna Purnima, said the temple committee in a press release.
To mark this occasion, a ’72 hour Akhanda Harinama Sankirtan’ was performed for the wellbeing of people. Meanwhile, devotees offered 56 varieties of delicious items to Lord as “Chappan Bhog” including sweets and in the evening ‘Ashtottarasata, Kalasha Maha Abhishekam’ was performed in the midst of Vedic hymns and mantra chanting.
