Hyderabad stargazers can spot Venus with naked eye after sunset

"Despite overcast conditions in Telangana and cyclonic activity along the Andhra Pradesh coast, amateur stargazers in Hyderabad and AP were able to spot Venus. Hyderabad: Here is a chance for amateur star gazers of Hyderabad to spot planet Venus with naked eyes and boast about it! For the past few months, the planet Venus is visible to the naked eye as a non-twinkling star-like object every night in the western direction after sunset.

“Despite the overcast conditions in Telangana and cyclonic activities in the coast of Andhra Pradesh, amateur star gazers in Hyderabad and even in AP are able spot Venus. In fact, the sky on Wednesday evening threw a surprise when the planet Venus was visible quite clearly to the naked eyes,” says founder secretary and Director, Planetary Society of India, N Sree Raghunandan Kumar.

“It is a small star-like celestial body on the western sky. However, it is not a star but planet Venus. You can watch Venus from Sunset to 8pm because after 8 pm the planet goes below the horizon. So watch out for the appearance and disappearance of planet Venus,” he says.

If you miss to spot the planet in the next couple of days, don’t panic, as it can be easily spotted in the evening sky everyday till March-April, 2025. “It is interesting to note that after missions to moon, mars, India now is planning to send a Venus Orbiter Mission (VOM) by 2028,” Raghunandan adds.
