Hyderabad: The popular Sunday-Funday programme at Tank Bund will be celebrated as Swachhata Sunday-Funday. This comes in the wake of Telangana’s impressive performance in the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2021.
The State had won 12 awards and Hyderabad was declared as the Best Self Sustainable Mega City in the country by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
“To celebrate the success and create further awareness among citizens on sanitation, Swachhata Sunday-Funday at Tank Bund is being organised,” Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) said in a press release.
As part of the programme, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) staff will be present all along the Tank Bund to demonstrate best sanitation practises. A demo showcasing waste segregation and onsite composting will be displayed. They will also promote community involvement in sanitation and food stalls will promote alternatives for single use plastic. The HMDA will be setting up stalls for free distribution of more than 30 species of saplings.
Caricature artists, face painters, temporary tattoo artists and magicians, will also welcome the crowd.
