Hyderabad Task Force busts gang peddling Nitrazepam tablets; three held
The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (Rajendranagar) and Kamatipura police arrested three persons for peddling Nitrazepam‑10 mg tablets and seized 1,840 tablets worth Rs 1.23 lakh.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, (Rajendranagar), along with Kamatipura police, has busted an illegal gang involved in the possession, sale and peddling of Nitrazepam-10 mg tablets and arrested three persons. A total of 1,840 tablets, three mobile phones and Rs. 1,000 cash were seized from them.
According to the police, Mohammed Ashfaq (27) was apprehended near Grace Hospital, Kamatipura and 800 Nitrazepam-10 mg tablets were recovered from his possession.
“Ashfaq disclosed he had procured the tablets from Hathagale Ramjaane alias Ram (20) of Manger Basthi, Mallepally, and Mohammed Imran (31) of Attapur, who were allegedly involved in the supply and sale of the tablets. Based on the information, the Task Force and Kamatipura police teams apprehended Ramjaane and Imran. Police recovered 140 Nitrazepam-10 mg tablets from Ramjaane and 900 tablets from Imran,” said DCP Rajendranagar, S Sreenivas.
According to police, Ramjaane had allegedly sourced the tablets from three persons identified as Rohan, Ajay and Karan, residents of Manger Basthi, Mallepally, who were suspected to be the main suppliers. The trio is currently absconding.
Police said the accused allegedly purchased the tablets at around Rs. 20 per tablet or Rs. 200 per strip and sold them for about Rs. 50 per tablet or Rs. 500 per strip, making illegal profits.
The seized material included 1,840 Nitrazepam-10 mg tablets (184 strips), three mobile phones and cash, with the total value estimated at Rs. 1.23 lakh.
