Hyderabad: A woman software employee was cheated of Rs 3 lakh in the guise of investments in Wipro Industries. Police said the techie from Musheerabad recently received a link on her mobile phone about investments with high returns. When she clicked on the link, it guided her to a page styled as of Wipro Industries page on Telegram app.

She immediately received a call from an unidentified person who informed her that due to the company trending in share market, she would get four times higher returns within two weeks.

Believing them, she transferred the money in installments into various bank accounts provided by the fraudster, who switched off phones after receiving the money. The Hyderabad Cybercrime police are investigating.
