Hyderabad: The Medchal police on Thursday caught a man on charges of growing a cannabis plant in the backyard of the rented house he was staying in, without the knowledge of the house owner at Dabilpur on the city outskirts.
The arrested person was identified as A.Narsimha (50), a farmer from Dabilpur. Police said Narsimha had planted the cannabis seed amidst other bushes in the house, which was located beside the main road and was growing the plant which had grown up to over two metres in height with 30 twigs.
“He was selling the leaves to known persons for money and making money. When we reached the spot, we found him plucking leaves from the plant and packing them in a polythene bag,” an official said, adding that Narasimha had confessed that he was secretly growing the cannabis plant without the knowledge of the house owner. The Medchal police booked a case and arrested Narsimha apart from seizing the plant.
