Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed as local leaders allegedly moved out children studying at a local GHMC community hall at Pratap Nagar in Punjagutta on Friday.
According to reports, the volunteers from Sushila Devi Memorial Trust, an NGO, have been providing free education to poor children since 1982. As part of which, like every year, this academic year too, classes were being conducted to poor students from LKG to Grade IV at the local GHMC community hall.
Free education for the poor was being provided with the support of senior journalist Vamana Rao.
However, after his passing away in 2018, the education of the poor children was being taken care of by his daughter who lives in United States of America.
Meanwhile, the local leaders of the basti committee had allegedly locked the committee hall saying that it was not possible to run the school.
With this, the volunteers were forced to teach the children outside the community hall premises.
The Punjagutta police said they have no information on the incident.
