Hyderabad: The Dundigal police on Wednesday arrested three persons in connection with an accident at Gandimaisamma last Saturday that resulted in the death of a woman pedestrian.
Police said the arrested person, Ch Srikanth, drove a water tanker in a rash and negligent manner under the influence of alcohol and hit P Sulochana (21), a pedestrian, resulting in her death. This amounted to culpable homicide, not amounting to murder. The Dundigal police also found that Srikanth drove the vehicle without a valid driving licence.
Interestingly, Srikanth’s colleague Narsimhulu tried to admit the guilt by impersonating the former. Santosh Kumar, the supervisor, who was aware that Srikanth did not have a licence, conspired with Narsimhulu and induced him to impersonate Srikanth, thus misleading the investigation by screening of evidence. This amounted to abetment to culpable homicide, not amounting to murder.
The three were produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
