In Khammam, two men were sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and fined Rs 2 lakh each for their involvement in smuggling 200 kg of ganja and causing a fatal accident. The incident, which took place in April 2021 near V Venkatapalem, resulted in the deaths of an auto-rickshaw driver and a passenger.
During a night-long cordon and search operation in Gandimaisamma, Dundigal police detained three suspects and two rowdy sheeters. Over 1,900 individuals were checked, vehicles seized, drugs and liquor confiscated, and traffic challans worth Rs 1 lakh were cleared.
