Hyderabad: Three, including 7-year-old, killed at Puppalguda fire accident
As the thick smoke engulfed the entire place, Jameela (70), Suhana (50) and Sajira (7) got trapped inside the house on the ground floor and died of asphyxiation
Hyderabad: Three people, including a girl child, died of suffocation after a major fire broke out in an independent residential building at Pasha Colony in Puppalguda on Friday evening. A short circuit is suspected to have led to the fire, police said.
As per available information, the fire broke out on the ground floor in the house belonging to one Osman, a grocer, at around 6 pm. As the thick smoke engulfed the place, Jameela Khatoon (70), Suhana Khatoon (40) and Sijira Khatoon (7), who got trapped inside the house, reportedly died of asphyxiation.
The flames soon spread to the first floor of the building. The presence of three LPG gas cylinders in the building, which caught fire and reportedly exploded, ended up adding to the fire.
The locals, who noticed the fire, alerted the Police and Fire Department. Firemen, along with fire engines from Langar Houz Fire Station, rushed to the spot and rescued five persons who were trapped on the first floor of the building.
Locals too helped the rescue teams in the operation. The flames were brought under control after about two hours.
They were immediately shifted to the Osmania General Hospital for treatment. Out of them, two persons suffered fractures. The health condition of all of them is said to be stable. The Narsingi police are investigating.
