Hyderabad: The SR Nagar police arrested three persons including a police constable on charges of threatening and extorting a job consultant, here on Thursday.
Sources said Vikram, currently posted with the Central Zone of Hyderabad City Police, had on Monday approached the complainant along with his associates Bharath and Sai Krishna.
The complainant, who runs a job consultancy in Ameerpet, said the trio, dressed in safari suits and with wireless sets, had enquired about the process of coaching and placements and asked for the institute’s licence.
“They introduced themselves as officials from the Central Crime Station and had come to verify the license. When the complainant told them it was opened recently and that he was yet to get a licence, they threatened to book cases and shut down the institute, apart from producing him before the media,” police said, adding that they demanded Rs 2 lakh to let him off. When he told them he had only Rs 20,000, they took it and fled the spot.
